ASICS SportStyle announces the second collaboration with Toyoda Gosei. Featuring the SKYHAND™ OG sneaker, this collaboration explores the topic of becoming more sustainable by reusing Toyoda Gosei’s leftover car leather material that was used for their steering wheels. ASICS and Toyoda Gosei are both committed to becoming more sustainable brands. Therefore, the design teams found a way to repurpose the discarded content from Toyoda Gosei’s steering wheel manufacturing process as a unique design element for the SKYHAND™ OG sneaker. Designed with simplicity and everyday wearability in mind, the SKYHAND™ OG sneaker features a primarily tonal black color palette. Various leathers with suede, perforated, and smooth textures create a monochromatic patchwork effect throughout the upper. Additionally, a prominent cross-stitching connects the quarter-panel and heel as a nod to the seams that are prevalent on the auto manufacturer’s steering wheel designs.
